Finding Nino

I RARELY shop for myself. Like lots of men, I continue to wear the same threadbare clothes with the excuse that I am waiting for them to come back into fashion. Trust me, 'loons' will be back. Remember them? Exaggerated flared trousers with 28-32in flared leg bottoms.

Back in the 70s, my loons once caught the wind and slapped a bewildered poodle's face at a bus stop in Sidwell Street.

Speaking of fashion, Fake Audemars Piguet Watches what's this latest thing of V-neck sweaters that appear to have a T-shirt underneath? It's not really an extra layer of warmth, it's just the appearance of a T-shirt in the V bit. What next? jeans with the underpants already sewn in and showing over the top? Pairs of shoes with socks attached? After conceding my wardrobe was older than Sir Cliff's, I set out to buy a pair of trousers from a shop in Exeter. While queuing, a guy offered me his Christmas gift card of Pounds 50 for Pounds 40. My next purchase was to be a jacket. I could not justify the Pounds 180 price tag or even the reduced January sale price of Pounds 136. It was Stacy, my wife, negotiator and one of America's best shoppers, who stepped in. She not only saved the day but a further Pounds 20, while making a friend at the same time. Total savings: Pounds 80. Result.

So I had a lucky day this week, but one of my listeners had a luckier one. Her name is Gail Furness and on the breakfast show she won a place in the draw to win Pounds 1,000 to spend at a furniture store in Crediton.

It was last Saturday that my fellow DJ James Santer called out her name.

She said to me, after the winning announcement , that she had felt lucky all that day. As she left home in Exeter and made the journey to the store, all the traffic lights had changed from red to green in her favour. I urged her to go and buy a lottery ticket for later that night.

Finally, Mark Wheeler, my personal trainer, says that I need to increase my water intake to 2.6 litres a day.

How do you calculate your recommended water intake in litres? He says, take your weight in kilos and multiply it by 0.077 and that will tell you how much water you should consume. This is why I am backing this newspapers Save Our Toilets campaign!
