HELP from the public is being sought in a bid to catch cowardly robbers who have preyed on elderly women in Wakefield.
The appeal comes after two women were victims of terrifying attacks in the city this week.
led light tubesInsp Steve Griffiths of Wakefield police said: "We are growing concerned in relation to the number of vulnerable elderly ladies being targeted and having handbags stolen.
"We are getting something in the region of five incidents a month occurring.
"These are cowardly attacks on vulnerable people. They are crimes which could result in serious injury and I am asking the public to come forward with information so we can identify these those responsible."
A 64-year-old woman was left badly shaken after being dragged into the middle of a road by a robber who stole her handbag as she stood at a bus stop in Crigglestone.
She was stood at the bus stop on High Street at about 1pm on Saturday (February 16) when she was approached by the man.
Gucci Belt Bag ReplicaHe walked up to her from behind and grabbed the bag. The woman suffered minor injuries as she was pulled into the road during the struggle.
The attacker is described as white, aged 18-20 years old, 6ft tall, slim, with short dark hair and wore a light coloured jacket.
In the other incident, two youths snatched a handbag from an 83-year-old woman in Horbury as she went to collect her pension.
The elderly woman was walking along Northgate, near its junction with Dovecote Lane, at about 11.30am on Monday.
They ran up to her from behind and grabbed the bag from her shoulder.

One of is described as white, 6ft tall, slim, wearing a blue top, white trousers and a baseball cap worn back-to-front.
The other was white, 5ft 5ins, slim, with dark hair.
