Lifestyle footwear company Skechers USA is to enter the medical clothing market in a licensing agreement with Strategic Partners, the makers of Cherokee Medical Apparel, to create and distribute a Skechers-brand line of apparel for nurses and other healthcare professionals that will be launched in January 2010. The new collection will feature "a younger, more flattering fit than traditional medical apparel".

The company said the range will include innovative silhouettes, prints and fabrications, along with "ready-to-wear" versions of hospital basics like scrubs, pants, jackets and T-shirts. Branded designer accents will include Skechers logo buttons, flag labels, jacquard ribbons and zipper pulls.
The medical apparel line will be offered in a wide range of sizes, the company said, and will be available at independent retail uniform outlets and in catalogues.

Strategic Partners designs and manufactures medical, school and uniform-compatible footwear, and distributes medical apparel under labels including Cherokee, Skechers, Disney, Baby Phat, the NFL, and others.
